Pocker Sahib Memorial Orphanage College (Autonomous) was established in July 1968 as an aided junior college, affiliated to the University of Kerala under the management of the Tirurangadi Muslim Orphanage Committee (Regd.)
Though the college was initially intended for the educational advancement of the orphans in the Muslim community, presently it fulfills the educational aspirations of students from all communities. The campus is located 13 km away from the University of Calicut, at an earshot distance from Kakkad, on the Calicut – Thrissur National Highway. It is also well connected with air and rail routes of Malabar making it easily accessible. It takes just 9 km to reach Parappanangadi Railway station, 15 km to the Calicut International Airport and 20 km to Malappuram District Head Quarters.
MK Hajee had been inalienably associated with every humanitarian concern of the underprivileged sections of society across Malabar especially of Tirurangadi till his death in 1983. Being brought up as an orphan, he was aware of the sufferings and hardship of the destitute. Malabar Muslim Association had its genesis from his deep intellectual engagement with freedom struggle and the life of trials and tribulations he had in Madras. The idea of an orphanage which he founded as part of the humanistic and reform activities in collaboration with KM Moulavi, germinated from the establishment of Noorul Islam Madrassa. It is worth mentioning that he had the unique generosity to transform his own house into an orphanage in 1943 which later became Tirurangadi Muslim Orphanage. Thereafter he founded a series of educational and charitable institutions at Tirurangadi. PSMO College is one of the feeder organizations among a host of other institutions under this Orphanage committee. MK Hajee, a pioneer in the renaissance of Kerala Muslims and an architect of this college had a pivotal role in the educational and cultural regeneration of the Malabar region.
