Principal’s Message
Pocker Sahib Memorial Orphanage College, Tirurangadi, is a leading institute affiliated with the University of Calicut. The college has been accredited with an A+ grade by NAAC in the third cycle. The college was established in 1968 in a socially and educationally backward region of Malappuram District with the noble mission of imparting quality higher education to all irrespective of region, caste, class, gender and religion as well as marginalisation on any ground with special emphasis on the education of Muslim and other minority communities. The institution has been successful in this mission and it is evidenced in the innumerable Alumni placed in various capacities across the Globe and is reflected in the social and educational growth of this region of Malappuram Dt.
During the last fifty-four years, the college established itself as a hot spot of quality education in the educational map of Kerala in general and the University of Calicut in particular. In the last five decades, the college flourished from a junior college to a first-grade undergraduate one and finally into a postgraduate college by the year 1980. Presently the college consists of ten undergraduate, eight postgraduate and five research departments.
In the second phase, beginning from the golden jubilee year, the college intends to give more focus on research-oriented teaching-learning programmes with a view to inculcating research aptitude in the prospective scholars. On this occasion, I would like to share my dream of transforming this premier institute into a full-fledged postgraduate college teeming with myriads of research activities. This renowned institute, in the years to come, will be a college with potential for excellence as envisaged by University Grants Commission. In this context, I request all the members of the PSMO family for their wholehearted cooperation to realise this dream. As principal, I wish all the very best to all stakeholders of this college.
