Suicide Prevention Awareness Programme

The Jeevani Centre for Students’ Well-being, PSMO College, Tirurangadi, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority, Manjeri, and Taluk Legal Services Committee (TLSC), Tirurangadi, organized a Suicide Prevention Awareness Programme titled “You Are Not Alone” on 16 September 2026 at the Old Seminar Hall of the college.
The programme was organized with the objective of creating awareness among college students about suicide prevention, mental health, emotional well-being, and the importance of reaching out for support during times of emotional distress. The programme also sought to encourage students to listen to and support individuals who may be experiencing emotional difficulties.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Sruthi P, College Psychologist, Jeevani Centre for Students’ Well-being. Dr. Jamshid V. P, Principal, PSMO College, delivered the presidential address. Mrs. khairunnisa, PTA Member and Dr. Ramla K, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics and Jeevani Coordinator, offered felicitations.
The resource person, Adv. C. K. Sidhique, TLSC, Tirurangadi, delivered the awareness session. The session highlighted the importance of open communication, emotional support, early identification of distress, and timely help-seeking. Students were encouraged to approach trusted persons and professional support systems when they or their peers are going through difficult situations.
The programme emphasized the message “You Are Not Alone”, encouraging students to build a culture of empathy, care, and support within the campus community. It also reinforced the importance of small conversations and meaningful connections in promoting emotional well-being.
The programme was a meaningful initiative towards strengthening mental health awareness among students and fostering a supportive and caring campus environment. It concluded with a collective message of hope, support, and the importance of valuing every life.
