About The Department
The Department of Zoology is one of the oldest Departments in the college, was established in 1972. Later in 1981, the Department started UG Program (BSc in Zoology) and upgraded to a PG department in 2013 (MSc in Zoology with specialisation in Agricultural Entomology). In 2020, the department was recognized as a Research Centre in Zoology under the University of Calicut. Currently, the department is strengthened with the DST-FIST fund from 2019 onwards. Currently, the department has seven Assistant Professors and two supporting staff. The total intake for the UG course is 36 and for PG is 12. Students will be enrolled on PhD program based on the availability of seats. The Department has well-established and separate UG and PG smart classrooms, labs and research labs.
The department focuses on research in Soil Ecology, Invasion Biology, Parasitology, Aquatic Biology and Insect systematics.
