In his keynote presentation Rolf Killius investigates how collections kept in museums (such as musical instruments), oral history interviews and archival documents (photographs, film, audio and written documents) can be used to create practical projects and generate additional knowledge.
To illustrate this difficult task he draws from his more recent fieldwork and archival projects and exhibition and audio-visual productions. His examples are taken from areas as diverse as London, Germany, Qatar and Kerala.
One aim of the presentation is to instigate creative projects based on historical resources and aimed at a younger generation and diverse communities.Rolf Killius will be presenting LIVE from the Musical Instrument Museum in Markneukirchen, Saxony, Germany’. And ‘the Museum is supporting this event’.
